This is a small selection of things I've worked on. In my current role, I tend to work in the whole pipeline, from pre-production and filming through to editing, coloring and mastering. I also work regularly as media wrangler/DIT, and have architected efficient video workflows for unique and demanding jobs. In the past, I've written some music.
⤷ Direction, Camera, Editing, Audio Mix. This project combines three different stories of missionaries working in different parts of East Asia. It required pre-interviews leading up to about a week of travel per location. Had to pack light! What results is essentially three mini-documentaries in one.
⤷ Camera, Editing. Highlight video for the annual beach baptisms our church does. I was one of two videographers covering over 50 baptisms, in addition to two photographers. The footage, captured on a Sunday, was then edited into this highlight video by the following Sunday.
⤷ Editing, Motion Graphics, Audio. Promotional video for a wine company partnering with a local restaurant. (Mentone is incredible, by the way.) Had a fun time with this one, leaning into the jazz of it all. I made the title graphics you see throughout, with the exception of the first graphic.
⤷ Assistant Editor, DIT. Walmer was a hush-hush signing for MBFC, so we operated in extreme secrecy. Our producer made a pre-vis cut that we shot for. I acted as DIT onsite and made a rush rough cut by the end of the day. It was then passed off to another editor to be cleaned up.
⤷ Editor. A series of vignettes were filmed for this promotional video for a local hotel. Each vignette was spun off into its own ad, but this one was meant to weave together the various storylines to give a sense of what could happen on any given day at the hotel.
⤷ Editing, Workflow Architect. This project was unique in that it required a highlight reel at the end of a two and a half day retreat in San Diego. I was editing remotely in Santa Cruz, so we architected a process that used Frame.io's Camera to Cloud for the edit, then relinked to the original camera media before exporting locally in San Diego.
⤷ Editing, Videography. I lived and worked at Camp Hammer for a few summers and a year. It holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, it was nearly completely burned in the CZU Lightning Complex Fires of 2020. The footage of this summer, 2018, offers a glimpse into the life that happened under those redwood canopies.
